The study assessed financial management and control issues in the implementation of the European Social Fund (ESF) in the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom during the programming period 2000-2006. ESF measures implemented in the three Member States account for nearly €13.8 billion, representing some 20% of total ESF resources during this period 2000-2006.
